Guns N' Roses had been left for dead by all that most hardcore fans. The band's Chinese Democracy had become a running joke, then just an old joke. Then the underwhelming album came out, but at least it came out. Then GNR (a band that should have installed a revolving door and punchcard system on its practice space to help us keep track of the who's-who of players entering and exiting the line-up) started touring—abroad mostly. But this week, former Hoosier Axl Rose came back to the Midwest with latest guitar god DJ Ashba and if the reviews are to be believed, rocked us to the core with his glass-shattering high notes, AC/DC covers and a sleazy Sunset Strip vibe befitting the group's original rocker scumbag raison d'etre.
