Kid Rock + ZZ Top
Event Info: (708) 614-1616
I never thought I'd say this, either: Kid Rock is admirable. When I interviewed him, he dialed me up directly from his cellphone, Robert Ritchie on the caller ID. "I don't need a publicist," he laughed, perhaps with more curse words in there. He doesn't charge much for concert tickets. He tours with ZZ Top, which is a far cry from the rap-rock circles he once traveled in. I know what you're thinking: What's the difference, frat boys or NASCAR fans? But there's something admirable about Rock's unapologetic simplicity. He's more cowboy than most country acts; he's punker than Marky Ramone. In a way, he's sort of evolved into a Jimmy Buffett for jocks.
