Stereophonics have ridden their career to unlikely lengths. Formed in the fading embers of Britpop, the Welsh act was lumped in with Oasis clones but was always more of a post-grunge Faces. In the best way possible, the threesome has endured to become its homeland's Nickelback of sorts. The group has quietly hit an autumnal hot streak: After a couple dud dad-rock records, Kelly Jones and crew cut back to power-pop basics on Keep Calm and Carry On in 2009. A new record, Graffiti on the Train, pushes the opposite way into artier territory. It's the rare band to find inspiration after its greatest-hits album.
