Foo Fighters - Lady Gaga | Song reviews
Dave Grohl growls through a gloriously dumb blast of bubblegum metal; echoes of Madonna drown out Lady Gaga’s trite motivation message.

Foo Fighters
Hard to believe this is the same band that was recently making unplugged folk love with Norah Jones and Kaki King. Dave Grohl is back to gargling gasoline on the Foo’s heavy, heavy new album, Wasting Light, which could just have easily been called Fifteen Again. Sure, Nirvana could thrash, but Grohl hasn’t made such a lowbrow racket since his Scream days. Over a neck-snapping three-guitar riff, the shaggy metalhead growls like a panther poked with broken shards of a Slayer album. But this guy never hits a stage without a big pink wad of Hubba Bubba in his mouth, so the chorus bleeds a sweet little melody, even if sounds like it was recorded in the trunk of a burning Lincoln Continental. A stupid blast.
