On LP3, its new, well… third album, instrumental Brooklyn duo Ratatat evolves beyond a Daft Punk–done-on-a-dime sound into whimsical new territories. Electric guitars still warble and bend into drowsy, weeping string suites, but tidbits of global influences—flamenco, hula, Afrobeat—creep in as well. It’s just one of the many reasons to book now for the Hideout’s stellar Block Party on September 20 and 21.
