West on North grand opening tonight

Owner Joe Sabath and chef Dave Burns in the patio of West on North
Since selling his two outposts of Cleo's (in West Town and Bucktown), Joe Sabath moved West. And North.
First, he and partner Mike Dyra opened Marble—a bar with a great beer list, cheap food and a huge outdoor patio—in Logan Square.
Now, he's boucing a little South, only to land on North Avenue, just West of Western in Humboldt Park. The name of the new spot, which is having its grand opening tonight: West on North.
"North Avenue feels like Chicago Avenue did in 1999, and I wanted to be part of its transformation," Sabath says in the press release. What does that transformation look like? "A place...that appeals to the stroller set during the day and the hipster crowd at night."
More specifically, like Marble (and Cleo's), West on North is a restaurant and bar with a garden (albeit with 20 seats to Marble's 90+). Its design scehem is inspired by a compass ("the ceiling glows with scattered, illuminated multi-colored compass-infused ceiling tiles"), and the food menu ranges from bar standards (wings, quesadillas, flatbreads, mac and cheese) to somewhat insane: "Cheeseburger soup" (cheddar soup with fresh ground beef) and "bacon sticks" (bacon-wrapped pretzels) are just two of the unusual creations Sabath created with chef Dave Burns.
Stop by for the Grand Opening party from 6–8pm tonight: You know which direction to head.
West on North (2509 W North Ave, 773-278-7710).
