A storied space comes back to life.
Published: September 6, 2012
Barbara Glunz’s grandfather opened this gathering spot in 1888. It lay vacant for 90 years, until she and her son decided to bring it back as a modern tavern, with French-German-Austrian-Alsatian cuisine from consulting chef Allen Sternweiler and a unique selection of wine, spirits and beer. 1202 N Wells St (312-642-3001).
