Where to watch the Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup finals.
The Stanley Club at Johnny's Ice House
Overlooking the ice at both the east (1350 W Madison St, 312-226-5555) and west (2550 W Madison St, 312-243-4441) outposts of this full-service local hockey rink, the Stanley Club features a full bar and plenty of screens tuned to the playoffs. With the smell of the ice in your nose and a 'dog in your hand, you'll swear you were there yelling at the refs in person.
The Anthem (1725 W Division St, 773-697-4804)
Nostalgic for simpler times, when helmets were for football and hockey sticks could genuinely be called "lumber"? The retro-inspired touches at this Wicker Park hangout include chalkboard walls, a wealth of no-nonsense beers, and comfort foods like the Velveeta-stuffed Jucy Lucy hamburger. If hell freezes over and the Hawks don't score, take a break from the giant projection screens and make your own puck luck with a few free games of bubble hockey.
Michael Diversey's Chicago Tavern (670 W Diversey Pkwy, 773-327-7040)
A Blackhawks bar with an MSU allegiance? We're skeptical. What's certain, however, is that between the pre-game DVD, the authentic goal-scoring horn and lights, and the blaring of "Chelsea Dagger," Chicago fans rule with 312 ($4) or Bud Light ($5 for 23oz) in hand at Lincoln Park's self-proclaimed "Madhouse on Diversey."
Crew Bar and Grill (4804 N Broadway St, 773-784-2739)
Leave it to cute boys in playoff beards to help a gay man find his inner hockey fan. Toast another deliciously scruffy Seabrook series with a half-price martini, reap the dollars-off spoils of Wednesday Wing night (foreshadowing?), and enjoy the eye candy all night (OT, anyone?).
Candlelite Chicago (7452 N Western Ave, 773-465-0087)
North Siders who like their hip checks a little more refined (read: fewer PBR-fueled words hurled at Justin Abdelkader’s momma) can take in the game from a flat-screen at this 60-year-old Rogers Park mainstay. Don't let the herb-flecked garlic fries and three dozen on-tap beers fool you—like the rest on this list, Candlelite is an official Blackhawks bar.
