NKOTB: Mrs. Murphy and Sons
New Kitchen on the Block

Biting Irish You wouldn't know it from the plethora of pubs around Chicago, but Ireland's cuisine has moved beyond soda bread and colcannon. At Mrs. Murphy and Sons, the family behind Wrigleyville's Murphy's Bleachers (with the help of chef-manager Rick Hall) will show Chicago what Irish food looks like in the 21st century. Taking inspiration from Europe, South America, Africa and the Caribbean, the restaurant will serve contemporary plates like hickor
y-grilled salmon with sweet-corn salsa, a variety of Irish farmhouse cheeses and thin-crust pizzas from a wood-burning oven. Not every aspect of an Irish pub is shunned, though: Of the 15 beers on tap, Guinness still reigns supreme. 3905 N Lincoln Ave betweenByron St and Larchmont Ave (773-248-3905).—David Tamarkin
