New kitchen on the block
Published: March 3, 2005

Food chain Let’s nip this in the bud: Devon Seafood Grill is not an Indo-Pak fish restaurant, and it’s nowhere near Devon Avenue. Instead, Gold Coast eatery Devon (pronounced “DEV-in”) will serve American coastal cuisine such as Maine lobster bisque, pan-fried potato-wrapped grouper and chipotle shrimp with corn black bean relish (pictured). It’s the newest project from Houlihan’s Restaurants, Inc. (yes, that Houlihan’s), so there’s a corporate touch to the place (we’re assuming that’s how enchiladas got on the menu). And since the top floor of the bilevel space is mostly taken up with a huge bar, it may just be the place you find your next catch. 39 E Chicago Ave at Wabash Ave (312-440-8660).—David Tamarkin
