Farmers' market find

Plant one on me Bob Soucie’s ten-year-old daughter, Elise, has been “helping out” at the family’s Flower Garden stall at farmers’ markets since she was six months old. Her contribution this year: planting the high-lycopene “Health Kick” tomato seedlings at the Flower Garden’s home base in St. Anne. You can find the tomato starter plants, along with cut and potted flowers, at the Federal Plaza market. Just pop the plant into a larger pot (along with some potting soil and maybe a bit of mushroom compost), put it in a sunny spot and keep the soil moist. Those antioxidant-rich fruits will be ready to harvest in six to eight weeks, if the weather cooperates. Best of all, you only have to invest a buck to try out your green thumb.
