HE’S A CLOVER LITTLE GUY Michael Finan has owned the building that Zephyr’s ice-cream parlor occupied for about ten years; when that beloved ice-cream shop left the premises in 2006, he figured he’d just find another tenant. But then he started receiving inquiries from people wanting to open a bar, and he figured they were onto something—so he decided to open O’Shaughnessy’s Public House in the space himself. As the name suggests, O’Shaughnessy’s is your typical American-Irish pub, decked out in dark wood with a tap reserved for Guinness. But for Finan and his wife, it’s a labor of love—he has no wild ideas of striking it rich with the bar. “I’m still going to carry on [working],” Finan says about his day job as a carpenter. “That’s what I get paid to do.” 4557 N Ravenswood Ave between Sunnyside and Wilson Aves (773-944-9896).
