Drawing Room

Glogg

Speckled with cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, ginger and sometimes vodka, this variation on mulled wine is a classic with Chicago’s Nordic immigrants, who pine for it the moment the weather turns cold. Simon’s Tavern (5210 N Clark St, 773-878-0894) makes a fine batch ($5), but Scando-happy Andersonville isn’t the only place where you can grab some glogg: The Gold Coast’s Drawing Room (937 N Rush St, 312-266-2694) accentuates its mixture ($9) with aquavit instead of vodka, which sounds good no matter how you pronounce it.
