Lillie's Q

What, you thought the Chicago barbecue revolution was slowing down? Hardly. In fact, if anything, this new Wicker Park shack hints that the barbecue scene is only getting more serious. Tending the smoker is Charlie McKenna, a chef who put in time at TRU and Avenues before opening the first location of Lillie’s Q in Florida. With his partners, McKenna won first place for pork shoulder at the 2007 Memphis in May BBQ competition (which is a little like winning supporting actor at the Golden Globes). At Lillie’s, he’ll be serving that pork shoulder, along with house-smoked baby back ribs, pulled chicken, shrimp and grits, pork-fat corn bread and caramelized corn on the cob—all of which McKenna expects you to wash down with his selection of small-batch moonshine. 1856 W North Ave, 773-772-5500.
