C-View's view not necessarily the skyline

Bars and restaurants don't often open early in this town, but every so often a place is so liberal with its opening date that it can quietly unlock its doors without anybody noticing. That's the case with C-View, which we previewed in our recent alfresco feature. Or, rather, that would have been the case with C-View if we weren't blogging about it right now.

The lounge, which claims that its spot on top of the Affinia Hotel makes it the highest rooftop patio in the city, officially opens to the public tonight. But crack photographer Mireya Acierto swung by a party there last night and shot these photos. As you can see, C-View has all the elements of a summer scene squarely in place: The muddled cocktails, the low-cut dresses, the perky cupcakes (what, did you see something else perky in these photos?), oysters (sitting, for some reason, on what was probably a perfectly good slice of watermelon) and oh yes, that view—that which everybody claims to be coming for but that nobody seems to be noticing.

C-View, 166 E Superior St, 312-787-6000.
