Sweet Miss Giving's gets a food truck
This winter, some food trucks are hibernating (where you at, Simple Sandwich?), and others are just coming out of the woodwork. One new truck that's just hit the streets: Sweet Miss Giving's.
"We'd been contemplating it for about six months," says Dana Friedman Lieberman, Sweet Miss Giving's COO. "It was: 'Should we try for another location, or go with the truck?'"
Obviously, they went with the truck, which had its soft launch last week. On offer is a slimmed-down version of the menu at the bakery's French Market location: scones and muffins in the morning, and cookies, cupcakes and brownies in the afternoon. As with everything SWG sells, 51% of the pastries' profits go to Chicago House.
A quick scan of the truck's Twitter feed shows that the SWG truck likes to hang around Clark and Jackson, but Lieberman says that in upcoming weeks the truck will develop a firmer schedule for visiting different neighborhoods. Until that happens, @SMGFoodTruck is your recourse for its whereabouts.
