Homaro Cantu announces new restaurant: ING
Last week, our friends at Grub Street pointed out that Homaro Cantu—he of Moto, Otom* and Future Food fame—had a new project in the works. It's called ING, and...well, that's all anybody knew at the time.
Now we have a few more—but not too many—details. As its URL suggests, ING will indeed be a restaurant. Or, as it was described to TOC, "an interactive and playful dining experience."
We also know the address: 951 W Fulton Market.
What can we glean from this?
First, that Homaro is sticking to his molecular style, unlike what his contemporary Grant Achatz will be doing at Next (which will be ING's next door neighbor).
Second, that Otom—the comfort food ying to Moto's yang—won't be returning. The restaurant "shut down for repairs and updates" on January 1st, a woman who just answered the phone there told me. Since ING's address is the same as Otom's, it's safe to assume that those "repairs and updates" will be the end of Otom and the beginning of ING.
We'll print more details here if and when we get them.
*UPDATE: Reps of Cantu kindly reminded us that he actually wasn't involved in Otom.
