Green City Market debuts improved location

We like frequenting the farmers' markets to support local farms and get our hands on fresh, organic produce: It makes us feel a step closer to the heartland and temporarily separates us from the concrete-dominated world we live in. But until now, Wednesday and Saturday mornings at Green City Market sometimes left us feeling a little...too close for comfort as we wiggled past people (and dogs) in the aisles. Plus, any time it rained, the Lincoln Park market turned into muddy mess.
Green City (in conjunction with the Park District, the City and Hoerr Schaudt Landscape Architects) has been working to solve that problem. The new and improved market will debut on Wednesday, June 29 at its original location near the intersection of Clark St and Lincoln Ave. Visitors can expect a roomier, dryer market experience, says Mark Psilos, associate director of the market, with wider, paved pathways and a better drainage system to manage rainwater.
Now we can get our dose of the great outdoors where we want it—in our food, not our soggy shoes.
Green City Market, 1790 N Clark St (near intersection of Clark St and Lincoln Ave), 773-880-1266. Wednesdays and Saturdays, 7am-1pm.
