I hope you're thirsty because the first annual Liquid Chicago, a week of cocktail events, kicks off tonight at The Fountainhead (1970 W Montrose Ave). From 7–9pm, taste the very limited edition (only 166 bottles made) Lion's Pride 47th Ward whiskey. It's Koval Distillery's first first overproof, four-grain whiskey, made from malted barley, rye, oat and wheat. ($10 at the door. RSVP to email@example.com with "WARD 47" in subject.)
Other public events this week include:
Tuesday, August 9: Midwest Beer Confabulation and Tipplefest from 5–8pm at Beckett's Public House (3210 N Lincoln Ave). Stroll among sampling tables as you sip on the best beers the heartland has to offer. $10 advance, $15 at door for 10 tasting tickets.
Wednesday, August 10: Whiskey Raw: the naked truth about whiskey. Learn everything you've ever wanted to know about whiskey while the Naked Girls Reading present whiskey-related passages. $20. 9pm at the Everleigh Social Club (939 W Randolph St). For tickets, visit http://everleighsocialclub.com/weekly-schedule/cocktail-club/.
Saturday, August 13: Franks, Felons and Fizzes from 1–4pm. Travel the city streets with Untouchable Tours as you learn about Chicago's criminal past, while enjoying classic hot dogs and prohibition-era cocktails.
Wednesday, August 17: Pig + Cheese + Cocktail at Perennial Virant (1800 N Lincoln Ave). Sip on cocktails from Death's Door Spirits (based in Madison, Wisconsin), as you sample cheese and swine from—no surprise here—Wisconsin. $50, 11:30am.
