Calling all cheese lovers to Pastoral's Artisan Producer Festival
Cheeseheads, listen up! This Saturday was made for you. Free things are going down at the
Pastoral is the force behind this festival, now in its second year, in which culinary artisans from throughout the U.S. and the globe gather together, and we—non-artisans—get to sample their products, ranging from small-batch food to beer to wine.
This year, 70 culinary producers are on the line-up, including 25 award-winning cheesemakers, caviar and truffle oil–makers from Italy and a potato-chip producer from Virginia. And don't worry, there will be alcohol to accompany the food-sampling frenzy.
Amid the gorging, a cheese-wrapping competition will take place. Two rounds will occur: Round one at 12:30pm is for the professionals, but round two at 1:30pm is amateur hour. Sign-up is easy (email firstname.lastname@example.org); the actual cheese-wrapping could get interesting. Plus, the winner walks away with a year’s subscription to Culture magazine and the cheese he or she just wrapped.
