Jam dinner service on hiatus until spring

Jerry Suqi's restaurant Jam (937 N Damen Ave, 773-489-0302) is taking a hiatus from dinner service, which chef Jeffrey Mauro launched in April of this year. Saturday, October 30 is your last chance to catch Mauro's bargain $25 prix-fixe until April 15, 2011, when it will resume. According to the press release, "Chef Mauro’s Market Dinners are defined by provenance and seasonality," and will operate in tandem with the Green City Market's outdoor season. Though it's brunch that brings in the crowds, Jam was truly a treat for dinner. (Here's hoping it doesn't go the way of Ina's, which after dropping dinner service "for the winter" in January, has yet to revive it.) Meanwhile, Jam is welcoming fall at breakfast and lunch with house-cured corned beef served with potato-mushroom hash, apple pancakes made with Seedling Farm apples and a fall salad of kale, pumpkin brioche pudding, Asian pear, ricotta salata and Meyer lemon vinaigrette.
