Andy's Frozen Custard opens in Block 37
The Ozarks: Home to a peculiar genre of "cashew chicken," some of the best chocolate on earth and Andy's Frozen Custard. The former two are damn near impossible to find in Chicago (though if you do have a local Askinosie source, by all means hook it up in the comments!), but the frozen-custard chain has been inching nearer and nearer, opening locations in Bolingbrook and in Evanston earlier this year, then opening in the below-ground floor of Block 37 ("Chicago's most notorious pedway," according to the press release) downtown this past Tuesday, October 5.
There's much to love about the crazy-rich custard (I was pretty into the James Brownie Funkie Jackhammer I had at the Evanston outpost, and the seasonal special is pumpkin pie—an entire slice of pie blended into vanilla custard) and indulgent sundaes, and this location will also offer some breakfast concessions (granola parfaits, coffee) to commuters winding their way through the pedway.
Andy's Frozen Custard is now open at Block 37, 108 N State St Unit #24 (312-422-9800). Mon–Fri 8am–7pm; Sat, Sun 11am–6pm.
