Custom House Tavern - (CLOSED)

After several years as chef Shawn McClain’s upscale steakhouse, this South Loop spot is now home to chef Perry Hendrix, who's putting out a menu that's hyperseasonal and lightly rustic. On his current menu, he offers impeccable chicken liver pâté alongside housemade pickles, rich braised rabbit offset by earthy English peas, and risotto dotted with sweet morsels of roasted carrot. Pastry chef Bryce Caron takes the meal to a more formal, fine-dining place, but sometimes, as with the frozen honey mousse with lime, it’s perfectly possible to readjust and enjoy it.
