Though the shabby decor doesn’t inspire confidence in the kitchen, everything we tried at this pan–Middle Eastern spot was delicious. Labna arrived seasoned with green onion; mugs of aromatic tea were gratis; and musakhan, a traditional Palestinian dish in which thin bread is wrapped around sumac-dusted chicken and loads of sautéed red onion, was pleasantly sharp. To top it off, Habibi offers its juicy shawarma in a long roll, creating an ingenious concept: the Middle Eastern hoagie.
