Grange Hall Burger Bar

This burger joint, owned by the same people who owned this space’s previous tenant, Veerasway, is not so much a restaurant as it is a piece of theater. With quilts on the walls, Ryan Adams on the iPod and plaid flannel shirts on the servers, it screams farmhouse cute. In fact, it is so much about aesthetics that the food seems to have been at least partially overlooked. The burgers are good, but the buns they are served on get soppy and wet. The fries are phenomenal, but the fried vegetables are watery. And while the ice cream is rich, creamy and more smooth than most, the pie sports a pale, underbaked crust. Does the atmosphere make up for the cooking missteps? That depends—how much cute can you take?
