The Charlie’s Ale House space has gone through some transformations over the past year or so. It initially reopened as a pub with two identities: a “Tap Room” with simple, casual comfort food (such as macaroni and cheese and excellently fried oysters), and across the hall, a dining room with more upscale American dishes. Now the owners have morphed that dining room into Ombrae, an Italian small plates spot, and kept the best of the comfort food here at Acre in the Tap Room. What hasn’t changed is the great beer list, soothing Restoration Hardware–like paint job andor experienced servers.
