Ten items—seven hot, three cold—comprise the menu at this genuinely old-school Northbrook lodge. Still, nobody pays much attention to anything except the beer, the shrimp cocktail and the burgers. As far as shrimp cocktails go, this one is fine, blanketed in a bright cocktail sauce piquant with horseradish. The burgers stand out more: Topped with sweet grilled onions and encased in a soft bun, they’re so tender an 80-year-old could still chew it. And plenty of them do.

Please read my comprehensive review on YELP.com I cannot recommend this place anymore. Unless you are a regular at the bar and don't care about food quality. Not the way it was 20, 30, 40 or even 50 years ago. It is definitely resting on its past laurels. the burgermaven
