*Brendan Sodikoff (Gilt Bar, Maude’s Liquor Bar) will open the Doughnut Vault in the original stone vault of the 401 N Franklin building (where Gilt Bar is housed) sometime in the next few weeks. Doughnuts will be made in small batches, though there will be no set schedule in the beginning: the Vault will use Twitter and Facebook to alert the public when batches are ready.

I'm excited to see that people are making doughnuts, but four doughnut spots does not a moment make. Keeping fingers crossed for the previously-mentioned Enoch's Doughnuts. Those doughnuts (and those now being served at Nightwood) certainly deserve a mention.

Apologies for the typo in the Blue Sky address. It is corrected.
I can't believe Dat Donut didn't make the list! They make them fresh, and as big as your head!

I went to Blue Sky this last Saturday to check out the riccota doughnuts. Not only didn't they have them, they acted like I was an idiot for asking about them. And when I then asked about an item advertised on their own sign as a "current special," I was told (1) that it wasn't a special and (2) that they were out of it in any event. I'm sure the other bakeries in the article are great (how could they be worse?), but not Blue Sky.
