Reminder: TONIGHT, a search for sex-positive performance artists, plus "Alien Queen"

Posted in Love Bites blog by Clarisse Thorn on Dec 4, 2010 at 5:03pm

As I posted a bit back, I recently met with my friend Jonny Stax, and we've got big dreams for sex-positive performance art. We also figured it would be awesome to create a sex-positive discount for the opening Saturday of Jonny's show, "Alien Queen" ... which is tonight! If you want to help out with sex-positive performance art, or if you just want a discount on "Alien Queen", then all you have to do is read the invitation he wrote below!

We would like to invite you to a special sex positive night at our latest nightclub theatrical event from The Scooty and JoJo Show, creators of the Chicago cult classic "Carpenters Halloween". The performance will be followed by a brainstorming session about blending entertainment and sex-positivity. This will be a night not to be missed!

Our newest production, "Alien Queen", pairs the movies "Alien" and "Aliens" with the music of the rock band Queen. It has already been listed as a Critics Pick by MetroMix. As with all Scooty and JoJo Shows, "Alien Queen" includes entertaining exploration of gender and sexuality and related power dynamics. The show is full of hilarious sexual expression, cross-gender casting, and a plethora of sexy jokes. We would like to share this with people involved in promoting sex positivity with a discount for the performance on December 4th. To take advantage of this offer, just give the discount code positive when purchasing tickets online in advance or in cash at the door on the evening of the performance. For more information, keep reading or visit www.scootyjojo.com.

We are also putting together a new entertainment product that celebrates sex-positivity through live performance, and invite you to join us after the show on December 4th for a brainstorming session about what that might look like. Join us at 9:30 (after the show wraps up) in Rehab, the bar attached to Circuit Nightclub, for a fun dreaming and scheming session. Email [ jojo at scootyjojo dot com ] for more information -- or just show up!

MORE DETAILS!

ABOUT THE SHOW: Executive producer Jonny Stax Presents, Inc., announces the premiere of The Scooty & JoJo Show's new musical parody "Alien Queen", which sees the classic science-fiction films "Alien" and "Aliens" turned into a "jukebox musical" with the songs of Queen. Scott Bradley directs Ryan Lanning as Sigourney Weaver, in her career-defining role as Ripley. Musical Director Nicholas Davio leads a four-piece rock band, Jyl Ferhenkamp choreographs, and Lolly Extract creates the alien puppetry. Scooty (aka Scott Bradley) appears in the final "reel" as the titular villianess.

"Alien Queen" is a genre-blurring, gender-bending rock opera created by Scott Bradley (aka Scooty), creator of Chicago's cult hit show "Carpenters Halloween", as well as The Scooty & JoJo Show's "Mollywood" and "Tran: The Atari Musical". Arguably the best and most frightening science-fiction films of a generation are deliciously parodied and paired with the greatest, most flamboyant rock band ever. 1978's "Alien" and 1986's "Aliens" meets the music of Queen in a ferocious synergy of suspense, satire, and soaring harmonies.
