    1. Start with reclaimed lumber you’ve hand-picked from the warehouse supply. Choose between a new or rustic look.

    2. Cut the boards to length. Yep, you’ll be comfy with the saw in no time.

    3. Assemble the bench in a shockingly short amount of time. Less than three hours!

    4. Sand the bench to your liking. You might even opt to grab a can of natural finish from eco-friendly paint store Colori (2243 W North Ave, 773-252-4923) on your way home to make it nice and smooth.

    4. It’s all about presentation, so cut the maki evenly. Then the best part: Dinner is served.
