Reworking an old mirror

Found Beveled mirror in wood frame in north Rogers Park, 2pm on June 25.
The process This mirror had a cool octagon shape, so I thought it deserved a more interesting frame. I removed the mirror from the wooden frame, put loops of extra-strong adhesive tape on the back and adhered it directly on the wall. Then, I penciled hash marks around the mirror to indicate where I wanted to draw a frame. I used a blue Sharpie marker to draw a design of lines, dots and paisleys, starting at the mirror’s edges and working my way out. If you don’t want to use permanent marker on your wall, cover the space with Dry Erase paint by Rust-Oleum ($25) and draw the frame using dry-erase markers.

The materials Sharpie Chisel Tip Marker, in blue, ($1.30) at Blick Art Materials (42 S State St, 312-920-0300), Gorilla Tape ($5) at Lowe’s (locations around the city). Total cost: $6.30.
