If you’re in the mood to usher in the New Year on a sober, spiritually enlightened foot...
Bikram Yoga Chicago
It’s all good to break a sweat while breaking it down on the dance floor, but chances are you won’t experience the same degree of detox that 90 minutes of Bikram yoga (practiced in a 105-degree room) offers. The last savasana (that amazing, much-deserved rest at the end of class) takes place just before midnight. Then enjoy free healthy drinks and snacks with your sweaty compadres. 2736-A N Clark St (773-348-9642, 105f.com); 1344 N Milwaukee Ave (773-395-9150). 10:30–midnight. $15.
Candlelight Yoga with Aylon Samouha
Take a spiritual journey guided by candlelight and Aylon Samouha’s live guitar performance. Yoga instructor Kim Wilcox takes inspiration from the Anusara (guided by the intention of aligning with the Divine) and Forrest Yoga (all about awakening the senses), so get ready to liven up your spirit this evening. Sign up at mokshayoga.com. Moksha Riverwest, 700 N Carpenter St (312-942-9642, mokshayoga.com). 7–9pm. $20–$25.
CorePower Yoga Customer Appreciation
What better way to slide into the New Year than a free rubdown? The folks at CorePower in Bucktown are saying “thanks” for being their guest by offering free (tips accepted) massages from the late afternoon through the early evening. 1704 N Milwaukee Ave (773-227-9642, corepoweryoga.com). 4–8pm. Yogic New Year’s Eve
Sign up for kundalini Yoga at the Loop’s annual NYE party and you’ll actually fulfill that fantasy of spending the night in a beautiful downtown ballroom. But rather than wearing your ball gown, come in comfy, casual clothes; the only bottle you’ll need to bring is one full of water for your practice. Enjoy a double-gong bath, followed by an organic veggie dinner, mantra dancing and drumming. Register by December 26 for a discount. Walk-ins are not accepted. Fine Arts Building, tenth floor, 410 S Michigan Ave (312-922-4699, shaktakaur.com). 7:30pm–1am. $85 and up per person, $160 and up per couple.
If you’d rather party hard all night long with a clothing empire...
