Jan’s Antiques(225 N Racine Ave, 312-563-0275) This two-level, 18,000-square-foot antiques showroom is a pack rat’s dream and a claustrophobe’s nightmare. Salvaged architectural elements dominate the crowded first floor, along with a sprawling maze of garden statuary, but if you brave the clutter and descend into the basement, you can dig through layers of bikes, sinks, old pyramid toasters, or even an antique sewing machine.

Morlen Sinoway Atelier(1052 W Fulton Mkt, 312-432-0100) This studio focuses on interior design and home accessories, but it’s also a great place to find locally made artisan jewelry. In addition to high-end furniture and handcrafted necklaces, you can pick up a pair of bookends, some organic tea glasses, a pipe case, or a few tea or coffee spoons.

TESA Cigar Co.(1039 W Lake St, 312-929-3075) TESA’s dark, haze-filled cigar lounge seems more appropriate for a Mad Men scene than the meatpacking district. Behind glass doors, an inner room keeps the luxury cigar company’s hand-rolled selection at a perfect temperature and humidity. Though most of the store’s stock comes straight from its factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, it also sells a few boutique brands.

Overtime(1021 W Lake St, 312-733-0221) Even if you didn’t know that sneaker brokers were a thing, Overtime’s stock of rare basketball shoes on consignment is impressive. Take a gander at limited-edition Nikes, such as the Air Foamposite Galaxy sneakers whose release caused riots in February and the Nike Air Mag from Back to the Future Part II. If you can’t find your size, the staff will scour its contacts to find it and broker a deal.

Green Home Design(213 N Morgan St, suite 1-D, 312-432-9400) As the name suggests, all the products here are ecofriendly in some way. They’re either made of recycled materials, locally sourced or have green certifications. (A checklist appears next to all the furniture to let you know exactly how green it is.) The shop also carries a few paintings and works by local artists.
