Calvin Klein Encounter, $72 at Sephora Calvin Klein claims this cologne is “a new expression of sensuality that is truly addictive and unapologetically masculine.” Um, okay. Contains notes of Mandarin, cardamom, pepper, jasmine, patchouli Actually smells like We get strong whiffs of citrus and mint. This scent is better suited to a candle or bodywash.

Balenciaga Florabotanica, $125 at Neiman Marcus With actress Kristen Stewart as the current face of the brand’s Florabotanica perfume, it’s clear Balenciaga has a younger audience in mind. Flashy packaging doesn’t hurt, either. Contains notes of Mint, carnation, hybrid rose, caladium leaves, amber Actually smells like Walking into a flower shop. It’s not too sweet, and we sense a little bit of spice.
Bvlgari Mon Jasmin Noir, $83 for 1.7 ounces at Nordstrom Mon Noir is a welcome update on Bvlgari Jasmine Noir, released in 2008. The vintage-inspired packaging reflects the modest elegance of this black tie–appropriate scent. Contains notes of Almond notes, jasmine, white tea Actually smells like Intense jasmine with hints of powder and citrus. Is this what rich people smell like?

Nautica Aqua Rush, $49 at Macy’s Nautica’s latest edition of this cologne is supposed to represent the feeling of sailing. Who says boats are just for summer? Contains notes of Violet leaves, amber wood, water musks and teak Actually smells like Soap. Wear this cologne on days when you don’t have time to shower.

Lady Gaga Fame, $55 for 1.7 ounces at Macy’s Rumors swirled that the diva’s new perfume was a concoction of blood, semen and poison. Not exactly, but the liquid does appear ominously black in the bottle…and clear when sprayed in the air. Contains notes of Tears of Belladonna, crushed heart of Tiger Orchidea, pulverized apricot, saffron and honey drops Actually smells like A saccharine apricot…Far from the hard-core, edgy scent you’d imagine.

Jon Bon Jovi Unplugged, $TBA at avon.com Fans of Bon Jovi will be happy to fulfill rock star fantasies with Avon’s cologne coming out in November. As for the ladies, there’s a perfume available next month. Contains notes of Elements of wood, floral and musk Actually smells like The flowers are accounted for, but we’re also smelling some leather.
