Chicago street style | Nathan Minneham
These recent college likes to look as if he’s sailing through life.
You’re on the street selling notebooks. Are you from Chicago?
I’m from Rochester, New York. I went to school at Loyola and just graduated. When I was studying abroad in Argentina, I started making these leather notebooks. I cart around a bike I call the Walk ’n’ Talk Mobile, and today is actually my first day down here.
Your look got our attention. How do describe your style?
I’m wearing bombachas—they’re special gaucho pants from Argentina, and the sport jacket was my grandfather’s. I work with a Peruvian jeweler from Buenos Aires and he made the ring I’m wearing. This 80-year-old hat is from Prague. It’s my best friend’s great-uncle’s hat. I like to always feel like I’m sailing through life, so that’s my style.
It seems a lot of your stuff is from friends or family. Do you shop?
I don’t really shop. But my mom did buy this vest from some clothing store.
