Clever Alice
When brick-and-mortar shops shutter, we only half believe the owners when they say they’re going to continue living online, or return every now and again for pop-up shops. Clever Alice proves us wrong. Since closing her storefront in January after 16 years in business (moving from Lincoln Park to River North to Bucktown), Tamara Chaponot has consistently returned to an empty storefront at 409 West Huron Street for sample sales featuring dozens of men’s and women’s wear designers, such as Lara Miller and Wendy Katlen, marked up to 75 percent off. Look for the next sale in December; details to come at cleveralice.com.—Jessica Herman
