We know, you get that knee-jerk reaction to stores where your mom shops. But these days, just like Timberland, L.L.Bean and Eddie Bauer, Lands’ End is tapping into the heritage brand tradition and churning out classic looks like toggle coats and corduroy-patched vests for guys and wool capes and wedge tenley booties for women. The Midwest company, which started as a sailboat equipment supplier in Chicago in 1963, does most of its business online.
