1. Saks Fifth Avenue
A snowflake pattern and a big red bow—what else do you need? Saks’ classic presentation wins extra points for not costing a dime. 700 N Michigan Ave at Superior St (312-944-6500).

2. Neiman Marcus
Raised, embossed paper gives the luxurious feel of alligator skin. A Jay Strongwater bauble secures the bow and doubles as a jewelry charm ($7.50–$15). 737 N Michigan Ave at Superior St (312-642-5900).

3. Macy’s
Choose from 16 holiday wraps, including an old-timey Macy’s pattern and lavish floral foils ($5.95–$14.95). 111 N State St at Washington St (312-781-1000).

4. Nordstrom
In a pinch, Nordstrom’s gratis metallic boxes bring a bit of holiday sparkle—but we’d probably still wrap them at home as well. 55 E Grand Ave at Rush St (312-464-1515).

5., 6. Bloomingdale’s
The big B offers 16 options ($12–$15 as shown), including styles for kiddies and for Hanukkah, and many come with a decorative ornament. 900 N Michigan Ave, fifth floor, at Walton St (312-440-4460).

Not shopping downtown, or just want to outsource your labor? The holiday helpers at Paper Doll (2048 W Division St, 773-227-6950) wrap gifts for $2.50 per box (plus the cost of materials).
