Diamond facial at Spa @ Equinox
Does Equinox’s new facial leave your skin shining bright like a diamond?
As I was checking in at the Spa @ Equinox to try out the just-launched diamond facial, I wondered whether the 50-minute treatment would leave my face shining “bright like a diamond.” (Sorry if that Rihanna song is now stuck in your head, too!) I also wondered how, exactly, diamonds would be incorporated into the treatment. Would they be used as an exfoliant and rubbed all over my pores? It turns out no diamonds are involved in this service. The closest we get to the stones is via the platinum powder in the mask—the powder apparently helps lock in skin moisture. Another ingredient is silver, which happens to be an antibacterial agent that aids blood circulation and keeps your skin looking healthy. That combo acts as an illuminating booster, and my skin was bright and feeling fresh—without being too shiny. And even though the name of this service is a bit misleading, it still feels pretty luxurious. Before the mask is applied, the facialist thoroughly cleansed my skin, which felt more like a gentle face massage. That was followed by an exfoliation and then a neck and shoulder massage. Diamonds might be a girl’s best friend, but diamond facials are for everyone. $225 for 50 minutes at the Spa @ Equinox (locations throughout the city).
