FIGHT CLUB This new mixed martial arts studio is the city’s first training venue to exclusively feature every aspect of MMA fighting (think boxing, jiujitsu and kickboxing) and it’s the only place where you’ll find a full-sized elevated fighting cage. While those qualities sound pretty intense, this River West studio isn’t strictly for Cain Velasquez (you know, January’s top ranked MMA heavyweight champ) wanna-bes. Owner Collin Williams ditched his career as a lawyer and opened this club after he realized that MMA is the only kind of workout that he doesn’t get bored with. A range of classes (including striking, jiujitsu and even yoga) and one-on-one training for all levels combine combat, crossfit and body-weight conditioning. Membership costs $90–$110 per month. 711 W Grand Ave (312-666-5107, emeraldsmokemma.com).
