GRN facial
Highlighting new services in Chicago spas
SERVE THE ECO In honor of its new GRN (Grow.Restore.Nuture) organic skin-care line, exhale recently introduced the GRN facial, which gives customers the chance to test out the ecofriendly products during a soothing 30-minute treatment. Instead of beginning with the face, this facial starts at the opposite end of your body: the feet. Thai foot therapy—said to promote relaxation and improve circulation—is incorporated throughout the service. Not being able to relax isn’t a problem here, though, as exhale’s warm rooms and soft New Age music are just the beginning of the “aah” moments you’ll encounter over the next half hour. Extraction is not part of this session, so there’s no pain involved. Instead, your face is gently massaged as the aesthetician applies products such as blue chamomile cleanser, which is loaded with certified-organic extracts of chamomile, rosemary and green tea, and leaves calm summer-ravished skin. Next up, you’re treated to the bearberry and white-tea clay mask, a fresh-smelling rub that promises to diminish sun damage. Just-hot-enough towels soothe your face between product applications, which end with a generous amount of hydrating serum that locks in moisture, leaving your skin bright and smooth. And even though the session seems to fly by (why do 30 minutes always feel like about ten at spas?), you can stock up on the products and reenact the facial again and again at home. $65 through Sun 31, $85 starting Mon 1. 945 N State St (312-753-6500, exhalespa.com).
