Halloween events around Chicago
Chi-Town Clown Revue
Chicago-wide Halloween shenanigans start tonight—and continue on through this coming Monday. We've got a roundup of costume contests, bar nights, ghostly dance-a-thons, pumpkin-carving parties and more to keep you in a spooky mood all weekend.
8pm, Excalibur, $10 (first drink free until 9pm)
Tropical Thursdays at the Excalibur takes a turn for the spooky, with the weekly dance lesson/party livened up by a costume contest at midnight, complete with $500 in cash prizes.
Twisted Tales of the Knight
9pm, The Underground, $20
The Underground's holiday-themed "four-night saga" kicks off Thursday as the club transforms into a medieval dungeon. The story continues through the weekend as the displays take different shapes, including Friday's planned Tim Burtonization.
Lottie's Haunted House Bus Trip
7pm, Lottie's Pub, $40
The package kicks off at the pub with an hour of domestic drafts, the continues on the bus to Rosemont for a night at Screams in the Park (the home of H.H. Holmes, whom you might remember from reading Devil in the White City or hearing your friends talk about reading Devil in the White City). Registration begins at Lottie's at 6:30pm and is also available online by clicking the link above.
10pm, The Mid, $10 (free before 11:30pm with RSVP at clubtix.com)
The Mid has always liked to play dress-up. Some nights it goes with a candy-colored raver look, other nights it opts for dark and sexy—in a techy sort of way. But for Halloween, it's leaving the costume changes to the ladies of Hustler magazine, who strut the stage in this year's top sexy and naughty get-ups, all given the lingerie twist.
