18th Street Pink/Blue Line stop July 19, 2:15pm.

Beautiful loser When we first rode the Pink Line—which debuted about a month ago—it wasn’t by choice. But after several Pink Line trains passed us by at the 18th Street stop in Pilsen, we gave up on the Blue Line (which is supposed to run during rush hours, but does so irregularly) and took the Pink plunge. At least the wait was enjoyable: The 18th Street station is covered in colorful murals, based on the theme of “the Mexican woman”; the pieces were commissioned by the Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum in the late 1990s and designed by local art teacher Francisco Mendoza.—Leah Pietrusiak
