DANCE - Myth & Continent
Named for a subcategory of 122 concrete lawn ornaments sold by New Jersey company Massarelli's, Myth & Continent is Ginger Krebs's latest totally unique, wholly engrossing, proudly odd dance-theater environment. If art reflects its era, the hour-long piece is a particularly well-polished mirror, full of precisely chosen juxtapositions that resonate with those that we experience on a daily basis in our disorienting, disorganized, fractured culture. Running three nights only through Jul 29. Hamlin Park Fieldhouse Theater (3035 N Hoyne Ave, 773-880-5402, chicagomovingcompany.org). 7:30pm; $12.

AROUND TOWN - CitySwarm BYOB Sailing
Don a pair of those en vogue boat shoes or other nautical gear, then cast off with fellow shipmates for libations and a lesson in basic sailing techniques. After the instruction, a cocktail reception follows at Bridget McNeill’s Grill and Pub (420 W Belmont Ave). Chicago Sailing Dock, Belmont Harbor, 3256 Recreation Dr (cityswarmchicago.com). 6:30–8:30pm; $75.

ART & DESIGN - Artist Talk: Kyle Schlesinger
Schlesinger speaks about his poetry, artists' books and Cuneiform Press as part of his summer residency at the Center for Book and Paper Arts. Center for Book and Paper Arts (Columbia College, 1104 S Wabash Ave, second floor, 312-369-6631, bookandpaper.org). 6:30pm. FREE.

MUSIC - Sia + Oh Land + Ximena Sariñana
From jazzy trip-hop chanteuse to Christina Aguilera collaborator, Aussie singer Sia has done a good job transforming a once quiet career into a global musical cottage industry. Flamboyant Danish popstress Oh Land finds middle ground between Björk and Beyoncé, while the diverse pop-jazz stylings of Mexico's Ximena Sariñana start off the evening. Metro, 8pm, $25, 18 and older.

MUSIC - Gillian Welch
Welch and partner Dave Rawlings visit behind her the duo’s first album in eight years, The Harrow & The Harvest. Country-folk steeped in solace, this stuff hews closer to backwoods Tennessee than anything rolling off the Nashville conveyor belt. For at least one night, the roomy Vic will feel more like a cozy back porch. Vic Theatre, 7:30pm, $30, all ages.
