Chiditarod 2012 | Photos
Chicago's Chiditarod, a quirky (to say the least) shopping-cart race run by costumed fundraisers/rabble-rousers, celebrated its 7th year this weekend. Billed as the "world's largest mobile food drive," teams of five racers bring tricked-out shopping carts and a minimum of 49 pounds of donatable food to the starting line. Each team features four people pulling the cart dogsled-style while the fifth pushes and steers it. Spectators are encouraged to bring additional food donations to put in the carts mid-race. It's every bit as weird as it sounds, and more. This year's race featured an aviation-themed project and at least one person dressed as a Blue Man/nevernude from Arrested Development.

It's okay to be a show-off.
