World Naked Bike Ride 2012 | Photos
It seems in Chicago, there's an event for everything. Among the wacky and the wonderful that the city has to offer, perhaps the wackiest is the World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR), an annual occasion dedicated to exactly what its name suggests: going for a bike ride. Naked.
The event, now in its ninth year, was created with the intention of simultaneously promoting healthy body image and encouraging the use of people-powered transportation. Now with chapters in over 70 cities around the world (London, San Francisco, Sydney, Lisbon and Madrid, to name a few), the WNBR involves thousands of riders every year.
It's not a quick jaunt, either—over a dozen miles in three hours. Participants came equipped with costumes, painted bodies and plenty of bike bedazzlement to keep it interesting—not to mention make the ride a whole lot more entertaining for observers. Check out TOC's photos from the event.
