Vienna Beef tour: See how Chicago's sausage is made
In a Chicago cliché that seems like it was dreamed up by Bill Swerski's gaggle of Superfans, the most exclusive attraction in this city happens to be a sausage factory. The wait to get on a tour of Vienna Beef is more than two years, according to the company's website. And with Vienna's move from the North Side to Bridgeport on the horizon, there's a very good chance you'll never go inside the place where since 1972 the company has produced millions of hot dogs. Earlier this month—what by no coincidence is National Hot Dog Month—I managed to cut the line and report back about what I saw, stepped in and ingested on the tour.
