Gene Farris + Inphinity & Kalendr + KID Delicious Chicago's towering hulk of house, Gene Farris has been mixing records since age 11 and been an integral part of the homespun scene since 1990. He's crafted hits on his own and with fellow heavyweights like Cajmere/Green Velvet. The man behind Farris Wheel Records and a laundry list of house nights around town, he's has been a mainstay on the international house scene for more than two decades. His funked-up, gritty sound is the main attraction here. Spy Bar, 10pm. $10.
Christine Hands Choreography: Icicles As part of the Chicago Fringe Festival, local choreographer Christine Hands makes her directorial debut with an hour-long contemporary dance piece, Icicles, which moves from season to season exploring how weather "mirrors the changing temperatures of the human heart." (No word yet if Foreigner's "Cold as Ice" will be included as musical accompaniment. Bananarama's "Cruel Summer"? So many options.) Spilled Milk Stage. 5:30pm. $10.
Chipotle Cultivate Festival: Walk the Moon + Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. + The Mowglis This year's installment of the burrito-peddlers annual celebration of food, beer and music features another solid lineup of musical acts to compliment the all the carnitas and queso fresco. The energetic power pop of Walk the Moon will close out the festival, which also includes performances by Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., Youngblood Hawke, the Mowglis and Bestfriends. Lincoln Park. 11am–7pm. FREE.
Honey Bee Weekend Learn about the importance and role of honey bees in our everyday lives. The Morton Arboretum is dedicating a weekend to educating visitors over a honey-themed buffet lunch and many more activities. Pricing is subject to change depending on events.
