Ventra vents: the best reactions to the CTA's new fare system
Ventra, the Chicago Transit Authority's new fare system which sounds more like a new prescription medication, debuted today. As the CTA phases out existing cards, those who haven't made the switch should keep in mind these deadlines, when users will no longer be able to load fares: October 7 for Chicago Card Plus and Chicago Card users, and November 15 for disposable cards. On December 15, the CTA will cease honoring all non-Ventra cards.
After the morning commute, the "new way to pay on the CTA" has garnered mixed reactions, with the CTA managing rider frustration on Twitter (thanks to the RedEye, the hashtag VentraVents was popular) along with a Blue Line derailment at O'Hare.
From the get-go, there was suspicion among commuters.
There were people in Ventra shirts handing out pamphlets on Ventra at Howard station. Yeah, how about fuck you, Ventra.

Some users complained they had not yet received their cards in the mail from Ventra.
