Some years, I'll admit, the fall happenings aren't exceptionally exciting. This is not one of those years. Our 2012 Fall Preview is positively bursting with highly anticipated openings, concerts, exhibits and more. A few of my favorites:

- Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein collaborated on the musical Kinky Boots!
- British filmmaker and artist Steve McQueen is having his first major retrospective at the Art Institute!
- Stephanie Izard finally is going to open her diner concept, Little Goat!
- And so much more!
